GoodSex has played their music at some of the biggest parties the country has to offer, including main stages at Spring Awakening, Summer Camp and Freaky Deaky Music Festivals as well as the Silent Disco at Electric Forest Music Festival. For eight years, they have been consistently booked at some of the most popular night clubs in the USA, including three of DJ Mag’s Top Ten nightclubs: Spybar, Primary and the MID. Headlining and gaining residency at each. The act has also spread as far as shows at the Avalon in Los Angels, Beta Night Club in Denver and many other west coast venues. GoodSex also recently made an official remix for international touring artist Manic Focus which was featured on their most recent remix album. From raucous festival stages and sweaty nightclubs all over the country to dusty DJ booths at Burning Man, GoodSex is something everyone can agree on.
Their musical stylings highlight choice tracks from every genre that hold one similar quality, they will make you move. GoodSex remixes have been taking the Soundcloud waves by storm with over 350,000 plays in the last 12 months on only 6 releases. Wielding a pair of CDJ’s, a drum kit and a step sequencer, GoodSex blends multiple tempos, energies, and genres into one seamless experience. From dirty trap to soulful house to electro funk, audiences always leave sets sweaty and satisfied.
(this interview is with Joes Domingo who is 1/2 of GoodSex with Colin Tyler)
What genre would you describe yourself as? Why?
Anything that is going to make you move and feel good. we firmly believe that all genres are good and that there are tracks in each that can start a party. GoodSex is good music, whatever that may mean for the particular situation
Tell us something that you’re doing now and are excited about.
Besides The GoodBus which is our fully converted school bus that pumps out 10k watts of sounds and is fully fitted to be a RV/Soundstage we are working on purchasing a location called The GoodSpace that will house all our creativity and business moving forward… its very hush hush at the moment.
What artists influence you/do you look up to?
I really only look up to the locals that have made it the right way. using organic followings and real content, who pitch a solid message and base their brand off of something that actually matters. to quote a bronx tale “does Micky Mantle know your name?”
What is your proudest moment so far? (blogged/signed/etc..)
I think playing the main stage at spring awakening when it was in soldier field, bringing our bus to burning man and playing for thousands of people on esplanade or finally knowing that we were going to release an EP.
What DAW do you use?
What are some of your favorite plug-ins?
Serum and most of the native Abelton Plug-ins that come with the program itself. Traktor stuff is good too!
What is something you cannot leave home without (besides keys, phone, wallet)?
Usbs, duh, but also a zippo, baby wipes, water bottle!
Long days and nights in entertainment can take quite a toll on your body. How do you stay healthy?
Daily yoga, smoothies and showers plus a TON of water and good energy!
If you had to do something else (outside of music), what would it be?
I would be a nurse, I actually am a nurse
What was your favorite show that you’ve played?
What’s your current favorite show (tv/Netflix/etc…) worth binging?
Just finished Maniac but i am digging The Man in the High Castle or Jack Ryan
What is a quote or phrase that you try to live by? Why?
Onward and upward. always keep moving, keep growing, don’t let things hold you back or make you think that you are not advancing. we need to learn from our steps backwards without them steps forward would no exist.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
GoodSex is the one thing we all share, its the love that we have for each other. plants and animals even have GoodSex with one another. it is instinctual to love and to be one with each other. we can connect, we can care for strangers and we can be genuinely nice to the people around us.. oh ya and we all like good music so come and dance!
GoodSex just released a new track ‘Joy’ and announced their new EP ‘With Friends’;
‘Joy’ really captures the message and vibe we want to create for this album and the GoodSex lifestyle as a whole. We just want to make songs that make you dance, laugh and sing along while offering some actual meaningful lyrics. ‘Joy’ is really about not giving up on what makes you happy and through all the adversity we are ultimately the ones who decide where our personal Joy really comes from. It doesn’t come from anywhere outside ourselves. We can choose to be Joyful in all situations.
Check out ‘Joy’ below and make sure to stay up to date on all their new endeavors
